Product Description

Philips Respironics ComfortGel Blue Nasal CPAP Mask Overview

The ComfortGel Blue Nasal CPAP Mask advances fit design using a soft, flexible blue gel that conforms to unique facial shapes. A snug fit means a secure seal and no leaks while providing the comfort you need for a good night’s sleep.

The ComfortGel Blue Nasal Mask offers enhanced stability and a supportive forehead pillow selector that works together with the iconic blue gel-replaceable cushion. They provide outstanding comfort and stability. Sure Seal Technology (SST) produces a membrane-thin film over the gel cushion that closely matches the facial contours of both men and women, allowing more users to quickly reach the relaxed seal they need. You are more likely to get the restful sleep you deserve with the Philips Respironics ComfortGel Blue Nasal CPAP Mask.

Please note, that the Philips Respironics ComfortGel Blue Nasal Mask covers the nose only. If you need a full face mask, click here.

Minimal, nose-only coverage

No matter what the shape of your nose or face, the Blue Nasal CPAP mask easily and comfortably flexes to fit your facial features. The blue gel doesn’t require any adjustments or special sizing. Simply slip it and enjoy the comfort.

Built to last

The stronger frame design ensures lasting performance for years of CPAP therapy. Lightweight and flexible, the durable frame provides enduring stability and support. While some masks begin to lose their fit over time, the sturdy ComfortGel Blue Nasal CPAP Mask maintains consistent performance.

Fewer pressure points

Because of the lightweight, pliable blue gel, you experience fewer red marks or pressure point soreness. By minimizing contact, you wake up without wearing side effects from your CPAP mask.

Forehead cushioning and support

To help improve minimal contact, a forehead cushion offers support and comfort while reducing pressure around the head. Because the blue gel keeps a strong seal, it becomes unnecessary to tighten your headgear, which can lead to discomfort. The combined system of headgear and blue gel creates a system of optimized comfort without compromise.

Reduced noise performance

By redistributing pressurized air during exhalation, the Blue Nasal CPAP Mask offers quieter operation all night long. Exhaled breath creates the most noise during CPAP. By diffusing that airflow, you and your bed partner can enjoy a much more peaceful sleep.

Ideal for Those Who:

  • Are searching for a replacement for a less comfortable nasal mask
  • Want a mask with a clear field of vision for watching TV or reading
  • Are replacing a mask that requires lots of adjustments and still doesn’t fit well
  • Require a quieter mask
  • Need a mask with more comfortable headgear
  • Are looking for a mask that fits with beards and mustaches
  • Want a mask with more stability and support

Cleaning Instructions

Hand wash the mask and headgear with a soft liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water at least once a week. Do not use chlorine, alcohol, bleach, or alcohol-based cleaning solutions, or cleaning solutions containing conditioners or moisturizers.

Caution: Any divergence from these guidelines can affect the product's output.

Clean well with water and let air dry away from intense sunshine. Before using the mask, make sure it's fully dry. Dry the headgear on a flat surface. Do not use the dryer to dry the headgear.

Inspection of the mask for injury or wear is recommended (cracking, creasing, tears, etc). As required, discard and replace any components.

How to Achieve the Right Fit

  1. Move the forehead arm to the highest location and open the headgear to a large size setting.
  2. Squeeze the arms of the StabilitySelector and move the arm upwards to switch.
  3. Disconnect one of the Fast Clips or both of them. Place the mask cushion against your face by placing the cushion's base under your lower lip and rolling it up to your nose. Always make sure that your mouth is partially open.
  4. Pull the headgear on over your ears. If the Fast Clips are missing, reconnect them.
  5. Change the top headgear strap with both hands first, using the headgear tabs on the headgear. The forehead pad should gently brush your forehead. The bottom strap can be balanced so that the mask fits securely on your forehead.
  6. Attach the tubing that came with your CPAP or bi-level kit to the mask's swivel elbow. Switch on the airflow.

Comfort Tips

  • Reduce leaks or pressure points at the bridge of the nose or above the lip by changing the StabilitySelector on the forehead support arm. To cover for leakage, follow these instructions.
  • Squeeze the arms of the StabilitySelector carefully and move to a lower position for leakage across the bridge of the nose or through the eyes.
  • Squeeze the arms of the StabilitySelector and move to a higher location for leakage around or below the mouth. Reseat the mask by softly taking it away from the face and re-securing it in place.
  • Overtightening the headgear is the most common mistake. The headgear should be loose and easy to wear. Loosen the headgear straps if the skin bulges. Loosen the head straps if you see red lines or the mask leaves impressions on the skin.

Taking Off the Headgear and ComfortGel Blue Mask

Remove one or both Fast Clips from the mask sockets before removing the mask and headgear. Take the ball out of the socket and away from your face by catching the Fast Clip's body. Slide the mask over your face after the Fast Clip is disengaged. You will not have to readjust the fit of your mask and headgear every day if you use the Quick Clip to remove your mask.

Cleaning & Replacing Guidelines

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO REPLACING & CLEANING YOUR CPAP SUPPLIES

With cold & flu season and COVID-19 in full swing, it's more important than ever to focus on your health. Don’t know where to start? Start with your CPAP supplies. You use this equipment every night, so making sure it's being replaced and cleaned properlyis critical not only to your sleep health, but your overall health as well.

Did you know that the natural oils from your face stick to your cushion? Over time, this will soften your mask cushion and break down the seal. Unfortunately, you will then experience air leaks and a poorer night sleep. Do not let this happen to you!

We created the ultimate guide (as recommended by major insurance companies) to make sure you are replacing your CPAP supplies on time and cleaning them correctly!

WHEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY CPAP SUPPLIES?

See below for the insurance recommended schedule:

  • Every 6 Months: Headgear, Black Non-Disposable Filter & Chinstrap
  • Every 3 Months: Frame, Tubing
  • Every Month: Full Face Mask Cushions
  • Bi-Weekly: White Disposable Filters, Nasal Mask Cushions
  • Only when cracked or broken: Humidifier Chamber

Failure to timely change your CPAP supplies could lead to infections and respiratory problems! There is hidden bacteria, grime, and dirt all over CPAP supplies!

HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY CPAP SUPPLIES?

In-between new supplies, pollen, dust, bacteria, and air particles build up on your supplies. Manufacturers, suppliers, and sleep physicians all recommend regular cleanings of your CPAP equipment and supplies; but keeping track of when to clean what, is no easy task! We are here to help.

“It is vitally important to keep everything as clean as possible, as hoses/tubing and masks can be a prime breeding ground for bacteria and mold,” said Phoebe Ochman, director of Communications for Sleep Apnea Treatment Centers of America.

CLEANING YOUR CPAP SUPPLIES

  • Add warm water to a bathtub or sink.
  • Mix in a mild soap. Some patients prefer baby soap, the Neutralizing Pre-Wash by SoClean, or a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar.
  • Swirl around for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
  • Leave all items to hang/air dry. Be sure to dry the chamber as much as possible with a paper towel or cloth, and then leave it out to air dry the rest of the way.
  • Clean all high-touch surfaces like nightstands, doorknobs, and light switches daily with a disposable wipe or a cloth and an EPA approved disinfectant.

Important Tips

  • Do not use bleach or other harsh chemicals.
  • Empty unused humidifier water daily and refill nightly.
  • If distilled water is unavailable, a back-up chamber should be kept on hand to immediately replace if residue develops.
  • If your mask has magnetic clips, leave them attached to the mask frame before cleaning.

Another option is to use a CPAP cleaning machine. It will save you time and energy for easy sanitizing and kill bacteria, germs, and other pathogens on your supplies. Let it do the hard work for you!
